Comment, d\u00e8s lors, faire reposer des cha\u00eenes logistiques en qu\u00eate de pr\u00e9visibilit\u00e9, sur des navires propuls\u00e9s par le vent ?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour garantir un service r\u00e9gulier, VELA s\u2019appuie sur trois piliers : la m\u00e9t\u00e9orologie moderne, une expertise du routage issue de la course au large, et la performance intrins\u00e8que de son trimaran-cargo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une route maritime favorable au transport v\u00e9lique<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>VELA op\u00e8re, avant tout, dans une zone m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique bien connue et relativement pr\u00e9visible. Plus au sud soufflent les aliz\u00e9s, vents d\u2019est constants caract\u00e9ristiques des zones subtropicales.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Semi-permanents, ces syst\u00e8mes dessinent des sch\u00e9mas de vents dont le fonctionnement relativement structur\u00e9 a permis, depuis des si\u00e8cles, le d\u00e9veloppement de lignes transatlantiques \u00e0 la voile. Leur influence directe sur le climat de l\u2019Europe occidentale et de l\u2019Am\u00e9rique du Nord en font aujourd\u2019hui l\u2019objet de suivis m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques particuli\u00e8rement fins.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un syst\u00e8me dynamique et complexe&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019Atlantique Nord reste toutefois un syst\u00e8me vivant. Au-del\u00e0 de ce sch\u00e9ma global, les ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques varient en permanence, \u00e0 toutes les \u00e9chelles. D\u2019un nuage \u00e0 l\u2019autre, les conditions peuvent \u00eatre tr\u00e8s localis\u00e9es. L\u2019architecture g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l\u2019oc\u00e9an Atlantique Nord est, en elle-m\u00eame, plus complexe qu\u2019il n\u2019y para\u00eet \u00e0 premi\u00e8re vue.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La saisonnalit\u00e9 joue un r\u00f4le important. En hiver, la d\u00e9pression d\u2019Islande descend vers le sud et l\u2019anticyclone des A\u00e7ores recule l\u00e9g\u00e8rement ; en \u00e9t\u00e9, les zones de haute pression s\u2019\u00e9tendent. \u00c0 ces modulations saisonni\u00e8res s\u2019ajoutent d\u2019autres variables telles que les effets de l\u2019oscillation nord-atlantique (ONA), qui mesure la diff\u00e9rence de pression entre les deux syst\u00e8mes semi-permanents. Selon sa phase, elle modifie la trajectoire et l\u2019intensit\u00e9 des d\u00e9pressions : positive, les vents d\u2019ouest sont plus soutenus et directs ; n\u00e9gative, les flux suivent un parcours plus sinueux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exigence de pr\u00e9cision<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Face \u00e0 cette complexit\u00e9, la marine \u00e0 voile op\u00e9rait historiquement presque \u00e0 l\u2019aveugle, r\u00e9agissant aux \u00e9l\u00e9ments plus qu\u2019elle ne les anticipait. Les chargeurs, eux aussi, restaient dans l\u2019incertitude, sans estimation fiable des temps de travers\u00e9e ni du jour de d\u00e9chargement. Pour exploiter pleinement le potentiel de cet oc\u00e9an et r\u00e9pondre aux exigences contemporaines des cha\u00eenes logistiques, une m\u00e9t\u00e9orologie aboutie est donc indispensable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La r\u00e9volution de la m\u00e9t\u00e9orologie&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Bonne nouvelle : en un si\u00e8cle, la m\u00e9t\u00e9orologie a connu une r\u00e9volution. Cruciale, leur mise en commun \u00e0 partir de 1947 sous l\u2019\u00e9gide de l\u2019Organisation m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique mondiale a permis d\u2019analyser les ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle qui est la leur, l\u2019\u00e9chelle globale.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avec le d\u00e9ploiement des satellites \u2013 en particulier ceux en orbite basse, qui fournissent des mesures d\u2019une grande pr\u00e9cision \u00e0 haute fr\u00e9quence \u2013 la qualit\u00e9 et la densit\u00e9 des donn\u00e9es ont fait un bond en avant spectaculaire. Enfin, l\u2019essor exponentiel de la puissance de calcul a ouvert la voie \u00e0 une mod\u00e9lisation num\u00e9rique performante. Anticiper pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment l\u2019\u00e9volution des conditions de navigation est devenu possible.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Des pr\u00e9visions fines<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 un horizon de cinq jours, l\u2019angle et la force du vent sur l\u2019Atlantique Nord peuvent donc \u00eatre \u00e9tablis avec fiabilit\u00e9, selon un maillage cartographique extr\u00eamement fin. Entre cinq et dix jours, les pr\u00e9visions plus lointaines restent moins exactes, mais permettent de formuler de solides estimations. Au-del\u00e0 de dix jours, la connaissance approfondie des statistiques climatiques constitue encore un atout pr\u00e9cieux pour orienter les choix de navigation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les donn\u00e9es modernes fournissent aussi des informations pr\u00e9cises sur les courants, capitales pour maximiser la performance. Par ailleurs, les pr\u00e9visions relatives \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tat de la mer \u2013 qui impacte fortement la vitesse \u2013 restent largement sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 ce qu\u2019elles \u00e9taient,&nbsp; quoique moins abouties \u00e0 ce jour.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En tout \u00e9tat de cause, la performance du trimaran VELA att\u00e9nue l\u2019impact des instabilit\u00e9s m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un navire performant dans le calme et la temp\u00eate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Que fait-on lorsque le vent vient \u00e0 faiblir ? Cette situation peut survenir dans certaines zones de haute pression. De nombreux \u00e9l\u00e9ments de sa conception rendent le trimaran-cargo de VELA particuli\u00e8rement efficace dans le petit temps. Par exemple, son assiette tr\u00e8s stable sur trois coques permet de d\u00e9ployer une grande surface de voile, pour maintenir de bonnes vitesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 53%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">\u00a0Quand la temp\u00eate s\u2019annonce au contraire, le VELA, pens\u00e9 pour pr\u00e9server l\u2019int\u00e9grit\u00e9 des marchandises, reste s\u00fbr et op\u00e9rationnel. Son gr\u00e9ement peut \u00eatre adapt\u00e9 aux vents violents. Son pavillon fran\u00e7ais est d\u2019ailleurs reconnu par le classement du <em>Paris Memorandum of Understanding,<\/em> comme le cadre r\u00e9glementaire offrant les plus hautes garanties de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 en mer. Ces conditions sont fr\u00e9quentes dans l\u2019Atlantique Nord.
