S\u00e9curit\u00e9, fr\u00e9quence, rapidit\u00e9, cha\u00eene du froid : sur tous ces points, nos voiliers-cargos ne demandent aucun compromis aux chargeurs. Ces niveaux d\u2019exigence, qui valent au VELA 1 le surnom d\u2019\u00ab avion des mers \u00bb, ouvrent le transport 100 % v\u00e9lique aux produits les plus sensibles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Transporter des palettes plut\u00f4t que des conteneurs demeure un ajustement pour certaines entreprises ayant recours au fret maritime traditionnel. Son succ\u00e8s repose sur des qualit\u00e9s op\u00e9rationnelles ind\u00e9niables. Il incarne aussi certaines limites de ce mod\u00e8le : massification des flux, centralisation des infrastructures, consommation de mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res, etc. Le transport de demain ne se passera probablement pas des conteneurs \u2014 et il n\u2019y aurait gu\u00e8re de raison de le souhaiter dans l\u2019absolu. La palette, maillon \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire de nos cha\u00eenes logistiques, pourrait en revanche jouer un r\u00f4le accru dans notre recherche de d\u00e9centralisation et de r\u00e9silience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:65px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>La l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 : un facteur d\u2019efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et logistique<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:36px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile is-image-fill-element\" style=\"grid-template-columns:55% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"928\" src=\"https:\/\/vela-transport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/vela-contract-1-1024x928.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1736 size-full\" style=\"object-position:94% 56%\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vela-transport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/vela-contract-1-1024x928.webp 1024w, https:\/\/vela-transport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/vela-contract-1-630x571.webp 630w, https:\/\/vela-transport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/vela-contract-1-768x696.webp 768w, https:\/\/vela-transport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/vela-contract-1-1536x1391.webp 1536w, https:\/\/vela-transport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/vela-contract-1.webp 1881w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-grid wp-container-core-group-is-layout-9d260ee2 wp-block-group-is-layout-grid\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le choix des palettes comme unit\u00e9 de transport tient compte d\u2019un param\u00e8tre essentiel de la navigation \u00e0 la voile : le poids. \u00c0 la diff\u00e9rence du transport maritime traditionnel, qui compense cette contrainte par une consommation accrue de carburant, la performance d\u2019un cargo 100 % v\u00e9lique d\u00e9pend directement de sa masse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Afin d\u2019optimiser les performances du VELA 1 tout en maximisant sa capacit\u00e9 d\u2019emport, un levier important consiste \u00e0 \u00e9conomiser le poids et le volume des conteneurs. En lib\u00e9rant l\u2019espace qu\u2019ils occupent, le trimaran peut embarquer jusqu\u2019\u00e0 600 palettes, soit environ 410 tonnes de marchandises. Dans l\u2019hypoth\u00e8se o\u00f9 des conteneurs de 40 pieds seraient charg\u00e9s \u00e0 bord, leur poids repr\u00e9senterait 25 % de cette charge. \u00c0 vitesse \u00e9quivalente, l\u2019emport serait donc r\u00e9duit d\u2019un quart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La vitesse n\u2019est d\u2019ailleurs pas seulement une fin en soi. Elle contribue aussi \u00e0 la capacit\u00e9 de transport globale de la ligne, au-del\u00e0 de la charge d\u2019une seule travers\u00e9e. Le chiffre de 600 palettes \u2014 qui repr\u00e9sente tout de m\u00eame l\u2019\u00e9quivalent de cinq avions cargo \u2014 a donc \u00e9t\u00e9 m\u00fbrement r\u00e9fl\u00e9chi par les partenaires techniques de VELA (VPLP et MerConcept). L\u2019id\u00e9e derri\u00e8re cet \u00e9quilibre : avec un bateau l\u00e9ger et une vitesse \u00e9lev\u00e9e, la fr\u00e9quence des d\u00e9parts augmente, maximisant la capacit\u00e9 de transport annuelle du navire.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Une cha\u00eene du froid simple et robuste<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le passage au transport palettis\u00e9 peut n\u00e9cessiter certaines adaptations. VELA a con\u00e7u son service de mani\u00e8re \u00e0 transformer cette contrainte apparente en avantage op\u00e9rationnel. \u00c0 commencer par la cha\u00eene du froid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour les secteurs de la cosm\u00e9tique, de la pharmacie ou de l\u2019agroalimentaire, le fret maritime classique comporte un point de fragilit\u00e9 : le recours aux conteneurs r\u00e9frig\u00e9r\u00e9s. Ceux-ci d\u00e9pendent d\u2019une alimentation \u00e9lectrique continue, qu\u2019ils ne g\u00e9n\u00e8rent pas eux-m\u00eames et qui est souvent issue de sources carbon\u00e9es, \u00e0 bord des navires comme dans les ports. Les palettes concern\u00e9es sont stock\u00e9es au c\u0153ur de la coque centrale, dans un environnement enti\u00e8rement contr\u00f4l\u00e9. Coolsafe by VELA, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 avec notre partenaire T.R. \u00c9quipements, permet d\u2019alimenter en \u00e9nergie renouvelable deux cales r\u00e9frig\u00e9r\u00e9es (2\u20138 \u00b0C) et cinq cales temp\u00e9r\u00e9es (15\u201325 \u00b0C), offrant aux marchandises sensibles un niveau d\u2019exigence \u00e0 la hauteur des standards les plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s de l\u2019industrie.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:59px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Penser la logistique \u00e0 partir des chargeurs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-image-fill-element\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 48%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">S\u2019affranchir du conteneur est aussi un levier de simplification pour certains chargeurs sur leurs sites de production. Pour de nombreuses entreprises aux volumes limit\u00e9s, la gestion des exp\u00e9ditions est un enjeu d\u00e9licat. Attendre qu\u2019un conteneur soit plein pour l\u2019exp\u00e9dier permet d\u2019en optimiser le co\u00fbt, mais au prix d\u2019une agilit\u00e9 commerciale r\u00e9duite et de stocks importants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le groupage maritime (ou LCL, pour Less than Container Load) existe pour partager l\u2019espace avec d\u2019autres exportateurs, mais cette solution impose ses propres contraintes, au premier rang desquelles les d\u00e9lais de massification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u2019est ici que le transport \u00e0 la palette change la donne. Il a toute sa place au sein du transport de demain. Utilis\u00e9es \u00e0 bon escient, au bon endroit, les capacit\u00e9s d\u2019emport massives peuvent se mettre au service de la d\u00e9carbonation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cependant, l\u2019articulation actuelle entre lignes maritimes massifi\u00e9es et transport routier est probablement vou\u00e9e \u00e0 \u00e9voluer. Certains travaux, comme ceux du <a href=\"https:\/\/theshiftproject.org\/\">Shift Project<\/a> dans son <em>Plan de transformation de l\u2019\u00e9conomie fran\u00e7aise<\/em>, pr\u00e9conisent ainsi le d\u00e9veloppement de r\u00e9seaux intermodaux plus agiles, reposant sur un maillage g\u00e9ographique fin et des solutions de transport bas carbone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-eadc7b90f23efe027145e157533689b4 wp-block-paragraph\">Dans ce contexte, un transport durable et r\u00e9silient impliquera de composer davantage avec des unit\u00e9s logistiques de petite taille, comme la palette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:43px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prot\u00e9ger l\u2019oc\u00e9an en s\u00e9curisant les marchandises<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:48px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-image-fill-element\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 35%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En attendant le transport de demain, un fret maritime palettis\u00e9 offre d\u00e8s \u00e0 pr\u00e9sent des externalit\u00e9s environnementales positives par rapport \u00e0 l\u2019usage de conteneurs. Il permet notamment de r\u00e9duire le risque de pollution li\u00e9 \u00e0 la perte de marchandises en mer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selon l\u2019Organisation maritime internationale (OMI), environ 2 300 conteneurs ont \u00e9t\u00e9 perdus en moyenne chaque ann\u00e9e sur la p\u00e9riode 2019\u20132022. Bien que ce chiffre puisse sembler faible au regard du volume total transport\u00e9, il repr\u00e9sente un risque r\u00e9el, non seulement pour les chargeurs concern\u00e9s, mais aussi pour l\u2019oc\u00e9an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Une seule de ces pertes peut en effet constituer une source importante de pollution pour les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes. La production de cet acier est une industrie tr\u00e8s \u00e9mettrice de CO\u2082.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selon l\u2019OMI, environ 250 millions de conteneurs sont transport\u00e9s chaque ann\u00e9e par voie maritime. Derri\u00e8re ce flux, le parc mondial est estim\u00e9 \u00e0 plus de 40 millions d\u2019unit\u00e9s en circulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les \u00e9missions li\u00e9es \u00e0 leur production sont incorpor\u00e9es de fait au bilan carbone du transport maritime. R\u00e9duire l\u2019usage du conteneur a donc, en soi, un impact significatif sur le climat et l\u2019environnement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Un autre impact, souvent m\u00e9connu, concerne les ressources en bois. Aucune solution n&rsquo;est parfaite en soi.
